Hulu Casts Amy Ryan In Comedy Series ‘Only Murders In The Building’

Hulu has another new original series in its sights called Only Murders In The Building and it has reportedly cast Amy Ryan (Mari Gilbert, Lost Girls), according to Deadline. The upcoming scripted comedy series will feature talent such as Selena Gomez (Alex Russo, Wizards of Waverly Place), Steve Martin (Peter Sanderson, Bringing Down The House) and Martin Short (Jack Frost, The Santa Clause 3). The series description will delight fans of crime drama and comedy, “Only Murders In The Building follows three strangers (Martin, Short and Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one,” as reported by Deadline.

Ryan will be playing a musician in their building and appear regularly throughout the show. She will be joined by Aaron Dominguez (Carlito, With Interest) whose character is the son of the buildings super intendent and is returning to the compound after spending years on his own.

Ryan has appeared in several highly acclaimed films such as Gone Baby Gone, Birdman, and Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead. Ryan also made waves in the Television department. She featured in HBO’s The Wire, playing Beadie Russel in the second season of the popular series, but her most recognized role of all time features in The Office, as Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell, The 40 Year Old Virgin) companion and love interest Holly Flax.

In The Office, Ryan plays a jovial and upbeat character that fits the mains character Michael Scott’s random and inappropriate behavior perfectly. At first fans of the office were not sure what to make of her as Michael had always hated the Human Resource Representative named Toby (Fred, Song of Back and Neck) but as Michael learned more about Holly, he began to love her and so did the fans.

The series is produced by Martin, Short, Gomez, and Hoffman, “Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Short, Gomez, Jamie Babbitt, This is Us creator Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. 20th Television, part of Disney TV Studios, is the studio,” according to Deadline. Fans of Holly are sure to enjoy seeing Ryan fill the position in a comedy series once again and create smiles with her new character.
