According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu announced that it has canceled the crime dramedy Deli Boys after two seasons. The series was canceled two months after airing its second season, which had six episodes on Hulu. The series gained a vast amount of positive reviews for both of its seasons, but towards the end of the second season, audience viewership fell short. Hulu doesn’t regularly release data for its shows; Deli Boys has never appeared in Nielsen’s top 10 streaming rankings.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the series was produced by Disney’s Onyx Collective and 20th Television, and it centered around Mir, played by Asif Ali (WandaVision, Space Force) and Raj Dar, played by Saagar Shaik (Ms. Marvel, The Marvels), Pakistani-American brothers whose father, to the best of their knowledge, owned a string of convenience stores. After the death of their father, the brothers discover that their dad ran a criminal enterprise and are thrust into running both that and the legitimate business.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the cast of the series also included Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever, Nobody Wants This) as Lucky, Brian George (Batman: The Killing Joke, Keeping the Faith) as Ahmad, Alfie Fuller (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Dreams in Nightmare) as Prairie, Jake Prizant (DogHouse, Millennial Impossible) as Matthew, Alexandra Ruddy (The Offer, The Premise) as Agent Mercer, Shahjehan Khan (Don’t Look Up, The Walking Dead: Dead City) as Ali and many others. Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) joined the cast for the second season as Max Sugar an unhinged but very intelligent casino magnate.
Deli Boys was created by Abduallah Saeed (Black Market: Dispatches, Vice Does America) and was developed by Jenni Konner (Nobody Wants This, In the Motherhood) and Nora Silver (Single Drunk Female, Welcome to Chippendales) under Jenni Konner Productions.
All episodes of Deli Boys are still available to stream on Hulu.
