Attention Spider-Man fans, Amazon has been working on sealing the deal when it comes to its new Spider themed series. Once Amazon has been given the green light, we will be introduced to Spider-Man series based on the popular comic storyline known as The Clone Saga.
For those who don’t know, The Clone Saga is a Marvel storyline that follows the character Ben Reilly who is Spider-Man. However, it is later revealed that Ben Reilly is actually a clone of Peter Parker the first and orginal Spider-Man. This wouldn’t be Amazon’s first Spider themed series because they had Spider-Noir in which the series followed a different Spider-Man who was on an Earth where it was set in a 1930s New York, where Spider-Man was Ben Reilly, a private investigator who was tasked with solving mysteries and taking down bad guys and ensuring that his city remains safe.
According to Deadline, the series will be written by Kelvin Yu (Bob’s Burgers, American Born Chinese) and will focus on the second Clone Saga storyline where the story focuses on two Spider-Man clones named Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker. In the comics it is said that Ben Reilly is a stable Spider-Man but adorns a new name for his superhero alter ego calling himself the Scarlet Spider. As for Kaine Parker, he is written as the first and flawed clone of Peter Parker. The comics will serve as source material and inspiration for the series but there might be some changes when it comes to the screen adaptation. This storyline is said to be the most controversial storyline in all of Marvel, due to the fact that Ben Reilly would reveal that he is the real Spider-Man and Peter Parker is the clone, however this decision would be reversed due to backlash from the fans.
