Prime Video announced the release date for its highly anticipated upcoming series Barbershop. In a press release on Wednesday, the streamer announced that the eight-episode comedy series will premiere on Prime Video on Feb. 10, 2027.
Inspired by the film franchise, Barbershop will star Jermaine Fowler (Superior Donuts, Ricky Stanicky) as Travis Walker. The official show synopsis reads: “Travis “Trav” Walker (Jermaine Fowler) returns to Chicago hoping to honor his grandfather’s legacy at the iconic Calvin’s barbershop, but the shop has changed, and so has the city. As Trav struggles to find his place among a new crew of barbers and loyal customers, Calvin’s remains what it’s always been, a place for sharp fades, sharp opinions, and a community that always has something to say.”
Alongside Folwer, the cast of Barbershop includes Brett Gray (On My Block, When They See Us), Punkie Johnson (Roofman, The Chi), Roy Wood Jr. (Outcome, Headcase), E.J. Bonilla (In Our Blood, Everything & the Universe), Bresha Webb (Hacks, Run the World), Bokeem Woodbine (Primetime, Invincible), Tiana Okoye (Twisted Metal, Loveland), and Langston Kerman (Abbott Elementary, Judge Travis). Guest stars include Zack Fox (The Vince Staples Show, Lurker), Ego Nwodim (The Summer Oath, Hoppers), Diallo Riddle (South Side, The Last O.G.), Ziwe (Our Cartoon President, The Rundown with Robin Thede), Tituss Burgess (The Slumber Party, The Wonder Years), Comedian CP (Comics Unleashed, Diarra from Detroit), Devon Walker (Lucy Schulman, Saturday Night Live), and Belmont Cameli (Until Dawn, The Alto Knights).
Marshall Todd (Bad Boys II, Woke) and Max Searle (Based on a True Story, Neon) serve as showrunners for Barbershop. Todd also writes the series and co-showruns alongside Searle.
