Apple TV has officially revealed the first trailer and key art for it’s approaching crime dram series, Nocturne, which will heavily adapted from the bestselling international novels, done by Lars Kepler (The Sandman, The Mirror Man). According to Screenrant, the series focuses on the perspective of Jonah Lynn, played Liev Schreiber (X-Men: Origins, Ray Donovan), a former soldier now homicide detective, who fled to a small city in Western Pennsylvania for a quieter life.
The peace was quickly short lived as numerous mysterious disappearance cases have arisen, with many similarity tying back to the deceptive serial killer, Jurek Walter, played by Stephen Graham (Snatch, Boiling Point), who is supposed to be locked in a high security psychiatric facility. Jonah is willing to do anything accomplish the mission. and enlist the service of his surrogate FBI daughter, Agent Saga Bauer, played by Zazie Beetz (Atlanta, Deadpool 2) to help him find the last remaining victim.
The official trailer offers fans of the crime drama genre an intriguing glimpse into the events unfolding within Nocturne, showcasing a cat-and-mouse game filled with bleak winter landscapes, ticking-clock tension, and heavy psychological weight having audiences on the edge of their seats. Reported by Apple TV, the series will be directed by Tim Van Patten (The Pacific, Boardwalk Empire) and Range Studios. If Nocturne has a strong start, it could end up being one of the platform’s most watched series in its library with other examples being Widow’s Bay and Ted Lasso.
While many have realized that it will not have the same atmosphere as in Mindhunter, Nocturne itself establishes a distinct, unsettling tension all its own and scratching the itch of those looking for their next mystery series. Nocturne is scheduled to makes it global debut on Apple TV on October 30 with the first two episode available to stream, and weekly release every Friday until the finale which is set for December 25.
