The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, nominated for “Best Television Series- Musical or Comedy” stars Rachel Brosnahan (nominated for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series- Musical or Comedy), Alex Borstein (nominated for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television”), and Tony Shalhoub. The Amazon original, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, is set in 1950s Manhattan. It centers around Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Brosnahan); a sunny, energetic, sharp, Jewish girl who had a traditional and steady life mapped out for herself. Her perfect life is turned upside down when her husband leaves her for another woman. Not long after this news, she stumbles onto the stage at a comedy club and soon discovers her un-denying comedic skills and decides to use this newfound talent to help her rebuild a different life for herself. Will & Grace originally aired on September 21, 1998, and recently made a comeback last year with its 10th season. It stars Debra Messing (nominated for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy”), Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally, and Sean Hayes. The NBC original follows the lives of best friends Will (McCormack) and Grace (Messing) as well as Karen (Mullally) and Jack (Hayes). Will is a (gay) lawyer and Grace is a (straight) interior designer. They both live together in a cozy New York City apartment. Jack is Will’s flamboyant gay friend from college and Karen is Grace’s secretary and assistant who doesn’t actually need to work because she married money several times. The Haunting of Hill House, created by Mike Flanagan, stars Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, and Victoria Pedretti. The Netflix original focuses on a group of siblings who temporarily grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. As adults, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past. Flashing between past and present, The Haunting of Hill House tells a story of a fractured family confronting haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it.
