Horror Aficionado Mike Flanagan Begins Production On Netflix Horror Series ‘The Midnight Club’

Director and horror aficionado Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) announced on Twitter that production has begun on his latest Netflix horror series The Midnight Club, according to Screenrant. Recent reports confirmed the upcoming ten-episode book adaptation horror series would be coming to the streaming network and through his latest tweet production has already started. 

Flanagan tweeted the clapboard on set with the caption “And we’re off! #day1 #midnightclub” commencing the start of production. The Midnight Club series is adapted from the Christopher Pike best selling novel of the same name. The starring cast is Adia (Danger Love Story), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods, Joe Bell), Tik Tok’s Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter (Power, Brooklyn Love Stories), Aya Furukawa (The Cabin In The Woods, AMC’s The Terror), Annarah Shephard (Caged, Midnight Mass) and Sauriyan Sapkota, who will be portraying the terminally ill teenagers. The supporting cast roles were previously reported as well.

Flanagan most recently made Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor. The series drew from the Henry James novella The Turn of The Screw but didn’t get as much acclaim as his previous Netflix project. His Netflix series The Haunting Of Hill House was enjoyed by critics and fans alike. The story was based on Shirly Jackson’s novel of the same name. 

Flanagan has an extensive background in the horror genre, he’s been at the helm of movies Oculus, Gerald’s Game, and Doctor Sleep. In addition to the upcoming teen horror series, Flanagan is at the helm of supernatural horror web series Midnight Mass due out later this year according to Screenrant.
