Netflix Reveals “Kingdom” Season 2 Release Date

Reload your shotgun, aim for the head and don’t make any noise: popular zombie series Kingdom has been greenly for a second season and is ready to shed more blood! Netflix announced the release date on February 5 and the whole cast is back to fight the undead on a medieval South Korea. Along with the trailer, the platform released numerous posters introducing newcoming actors such as Park Byung Eun (The Great Battle) or Kim Tae Hoon (Secret Boutique).

The six-episode first season of the mystery thriller premiered in January 2019 and received enthusiastic feedback from both critics and audience for its beautiful cinematography, its talented cast and the eerie atmosphere of a Joseon Kingdom devastated by a zombie apocalypse. Released in 190 countries and translated in 27 languages, the series was an instant hit and was quickly renewed for another season.

Currently holding 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the historical drama is based on Korean web comic Land of the Gods with author Kim Eun-hee directly participating in the show. In an interview with Ilgan Sports, the artist even praised Netflix for the freedom she was given and declared “Netflix did not interfere with anything. No matter how I wrote the story, or how many I killed, they just left me to make the decision”. In other words, the audience should expect some more tragedy happening in the plot.

As he is forced to investigate a deadly disease destroying his country, Crown Prince Lee Chang (Ju Ji Hoon) of the Joseon Kingdom finds himself tangled in political conspiracies and is chased away from the palace by evil prime minister Jo Hak Joo (Ryu Seung Ryong). Betrayed by those he trusted and as tensions raise in Korea, the Prince still needs to unite people to protect his land.Assisted by medical assistant Seo-bi (Bae Doona), Lee Chang will be back on Season 2 to destroy an approaching hoard and uncover the truth behind the death of the King.

Season 2 arrives on March 13rd.
