Hilary Swank to Star in Danny Boyle’s FX series ‘Trust’

Not since the 90’s have we seen Academy Award winner Hilary Swank grace our TV screens. Variety reports that Swank has joined Slumdog Millionaire Director Danny Boyle to appear in his limited run series Trust coming soon to FX.

Swank will star as Gail Getty, heir to the Getty oil fortune, and wife J. Paul Getty, played by Emmy and Golden Globe winner Donald Sutherland. The plot will follow the kidnapping of the Getty’s son (Paul), leaving a broke family to determine how to pay for his multi-million dollar ransom.

Trust is set in 1973 of Rome, where the Getty’s son’s captors are expecting a huge ransom. The 10-episode series will revolve around the kidnappers and the Getty’s son, who is ignored by Italian police for mistaking the kidnapping as a prank, declining to investigate. While Paul’s family members have their own ordeals to focus on, Gail (Swank) is left to negotiate with the kidnappers, Variety reports.

The series is set to premiere in January of 2018. Boyle will serve as director and executive producer for the series with Simon Beaufoy who is writing the installment. The series will be produced by FX Productions, Decibel Films, Snicket Films Limited and Cloud Eight Films.

Swank last appeared on television in the 90’s with Beverly Hills 90210, Camp Wilder and Leaving LA. Swank went on to win Golden Globes and Oscars for her roles in the films Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby.

Last year, Swank made headlines for launching her athletic-leisurewear clothing line called ‘Mission Statement’. She also discussed her struggle with the gender pay gap in Hollywood on a taped episode of Chelsea with Chelsea Handler.
