HBO Sets Summer Premiere Dates for ‘Vice Principals’, ‘The Night Of’ and ‘Ballers’

HBO has set summer premiere dates for three programs, according to Deadline. The premium channel has set July 10 at 10 p.m. for new limited series The Night Of, and July 17 at 10 p.m. for Ballers and 10:30 p.m. for Vice Principals.

The Night Of, created by Steven Zaillian (Gangs of New York, Schindler’s List) and Richard Price (Clockers, The Color of Money),  is an eight-episode limited series about a man who wakes up after a night of drinking and partying to find a woman stabbed to death. The eight episodes follow him being charged for her murder and the subsequent investigation that takes place. The series stars John Turturro and Syam Lafi.

Stephen Levinson’s Ballers returns for its 10-episode second season on HBO. The half-hour comedy series focuses on Dwayne Johnson as financial manager and former pro football player Spencer Strasmore, who wants to turn his former football superstar colleagues into clients. The show, executive produced by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and Mark Wahlberg (Entourage), follows the players as well as they do their best to stay afloat and navigate the world of pro sports. The series also stars Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington and Donovan Carter.

Frequent collaborators Jody Hill (Observe and Report, The Foot Fist Way) and Danny McBride return to HBO after their 4 season run with Eastbound & Down with their new show Vice Principals. The series, starring McBride and Walton Goggins (Justified, The Hateful Eight), is a dark comedy about two vice principals of a high school who are in an intense power struggle to try and get the coveted job of principal. David Gordon Green, director of Pineapple Express and executive producer on recent Amazon comedy series Red Oaks, is an executive producer on the show along with McBride, Hill and Stephanie Lang (Veep, Banshee, Eastbound & Down).
