HBO Max Announces Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson Comedy Series ‘Minx’

A new comedy series is coming to the WarnerMedia streaming service. Minx, starring Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy, Elementary) and Jake Johnson (New Girl), has been ordered by the streamer HBO Max, according to Deadline. From the creative minds of Ellen Rapoport (Desperados) and Paul Feig (Freaks and Geeks, Bridesmaids), the series is a product of the co-production between Feigco Entertainment and Lionsgate Television production companies. Rapoport will serve as a writer for the series in addition to being the showrunner and an executive producer for the project. Additionally, Rachel Lee Goldenberg (Valley Girl, Unpregnant) is an executive producer and the director for Minx’s pilot episode.

Minx will follow the plight of Lovibond’s character, a feminist, and a publisher, portrayed by Johnson, on track to produce and publish an erotic magazine for women, the first of its kind, in 1970s Los Angeles, California. On top of Lovibond and Johnson, the series will feature a cast including Jessica Lowe (Bob’s Burgers), Lennon Parham (Best Friends Forever), Oscar Montoya (CollegeHumor Originals), Idara Victor (Turn: Washington’s Spies), and Michael Angarano (Sky High). The series will feature Lovibond returning to a lead and main television role since her time on W1A and Hooten & the Lady. Furthermore, Johnson will also return to a lead television role following his part on ABC’s Stumptown

Minx will act as another comedy series for HBO Max on top of the anthology series Love Life, Generation, Close Enough, Made for Love, The Flight Attendant, and the upcoming The Prince

Currently, it is unknown when the series will enter the production process nor when it is expected to premiere on the streaming service, HBO Max.
