Disney+’s ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Provides Post-Civil War Timeline for Sharon Carter

Following the release of Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel and television fans have welcomed back Emily VanCamp’s (Everwood, Revenge) Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy Carter and an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. In the series’ third episode, the Disney+ original provided some exposition towards her whereabouts since her last appearance in the MCU in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, according to ComicBook. VanCamp’s inclusion in the new Marvel series accounts for her third overall appearance within the MCU as Carter.

In the third episode, Carter makes her reappearance in Madripoor after being discovered by Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. She stated in the episode that she has been in hiding in Madripoor following Civil War due to her theft of Steve Roger’s shield and Falcon’s wings and elected to live in hiding due to the lack of avengers backing her up. Her current occupation in her new world is her involvement as an art dealer on the local black market within Madripoor. Currently, Carter is remaining within this location due to the status of being free of extradition to America with a looming threat of arrest waiting in the wings if she returns back to her home country.

Despite fans being aware of her involvement in the Disney+ and MCU’s latest television addition for months, episode three provided the first glimpse of what the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has been up to since her last appearance. It is unknown where her story arc will go from here, however, she requested Sam to push forward with a pardon for her in exchange for her contact list that would further aid the titular duo.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is preparing for the release of its fourth episode out of sixth with its arrival on Disney+ on April 9.
