The WarnerMedia streaming service, HBO Max, launched back on May 27 and has steadily increased its original catalog of content in addition to including additional access to other past television content. The holidays for HBO Max do not come complete without the inclusion of various new additions to the streaming service from all outlets of WarnerMedia. Series such as The CW’s Stargirl will debut its first season on the streaming platform on December 1 in addition to seasons two and three of truTV’s Adam Ruins Everything.
One of the hallmarks of the December additions for the service is the premiere of Euphoria’s special episode. The series, which debuted in the summer of 2019, garnered critical and commercial acclaim as it followed the plights of numerous high schoolers and centering on Zendaya’s (Spider-Man: Homecoming) Rue, a recovering drug addict who is attempting to remain clean and navigate her adolescence. For her performance, Zendaya recently won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, marking her as the youngest winner in Emmy history. Due to issues with production from COVID-19, the second season of the HBO original series has witnessed a delay in its release. HBO announced that the series would premiere two special episodes before the season two premiere with the first premiering on December 6 at 9 PM EST.
In other HBO original content news, the third season of Summer Camp Island will premiere its new season on the streaming service on December 10. The animated series centers around the lives and times of Oscar and Hedgehog during their attendance at the titular campsite. The series premiered on Cartoon Network for its first season before moving over to HBO Max in June 2020 for its second installment. The series hails from Julia Pott (Adventure Time) and its third season will begin its twelve-episode run from December 10 to December 24.
HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant will conclude its limited series run on December 17. The drama series stars Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) as a flight attendant in Cassandra Bowden who gets caught up in a murder case. The original program debuted its first three episodes on November 26 with the next two episodes being released on December 3. The remaining three episodes will be split with the sixth and seventh episodes premiering on December 10 and the series finale will premiere on December 17. Another key addition to the HBO Max library will be the inclusion of The West Wing and its seven seasons following the staff at the Oval Office. The political drama series debuted on NBC in 1999 and its cast most recently reunited for special episode in the lead-up to the 2020 election. The reunion marked the cast and crew’s support for Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote organization.
