Scott Caan, who portrayed Danny Williams in the 10-season-long Hawaii Five-0, will headline CBS’s new drama series, Topangaland, and executively produce the show, via Deadline. This will mark as return for Caan to the CBS Network since Hawaii Five-0 ended last year. The Golden Globe-nominated actor has appeared in other projects such as Entourage(2004), Ocean’s Eleven (2001), and Ocean’s Twelve (2004). Prior to producing the upcoming CBS series, Caan had written and produced the film, Mercy, in 2009 where he was also the lead.
According to Deadline, Caan will play a former police officer who works for his father’s private detective institution. Topangaland will take viewers from the California Dreaming Malibu to the strikingly different community named Topanga. Meanwhile, he has to resolve his unpleasant relationship with his reputed father and the rest of his family.
Other than Caan, Benjamin Cavell will also join as the co-writer of Topangaland. Cavell is the creator of SEAL Team, another series of CBS. However, the newest season of SEAL Team will be moving to Paramount Plus. Cavell also created The Stand based on Stephen King’s 1978 novel of the same name and produced other projects such as Justified and Homeland. Reportedly, the two met through Jerry Bruckheimer Television’s connection while Caan was discussing with JBTV about the new project. Intending to bring Caan back to the network, the CBS Network purchased this project preemptively.
Jerry Bruckheimer (Lucifer), Jonathan Littman (The Amazing Race), and KristieAnne Reed (Lucifer) will also serve as producers for this forthcoming project.
