Halle Berry is Producing ‘Hannibal’ Miniseries at History

History Channel is working with Halle Berry and Jeffrey Caine for the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is about Hannibal Barca and his rival, Scipio Africanus, who went head-to-head in the Second Punic War.  The action begins in 264 B.C. and it goes through the second Punic War between Rome and Carthage. The main character and Scipio take a vow to destroy the nation he serves. Still, the two of them will gain respect of each other in time and will be like brothers.

Hannibal was not only the greatest African general to ever live,” said Halle Berry, adding that, “He may have been the greatest general, period. His story is an intricate and captivating ride, and I’m thrilled to get this project off the ground with our partners at History.”

The executive producers of the show are Halle Berry, Steve Jensen, Vincent Cirrincione and Jeffrey Caine (who will also write the script for the project).

Halle Berry will star in 13-episode of the summer series Extant, produced by Steven Spielberg. The actress also won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a SAG for the role in HBO’s Introducing Dorothy Dandridge.
