Gen V has officially been canceled after two seasons, as Amazon continues expanding The Boys franchise with its upcoming prequel series, Vought Rising, according to Deadline. The cancellation comes as The Boys moves toward the end of its five-season run.
Executive producers Eric Kripke (Supernatural, Timeless) and Evan Goldberg (Future Man, Invincible) confirmed that while Gen V will not continue with a third season, its characters will still appear throughout the larger franchise moving forward.
Gen V starred Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Paper Towns) and Lizze Broadway (The Rookie, American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules) as students attending Godolkin University, a school created for young supes within The Boys universe. The series focused on the darker side of superhero culture while directly connecting to events from the main show.
According to Deadline, Amazon is shifting focus to Vought Rising, which is expected to premiere in 2027. The prequel series stars Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Tracker) returning as Soldier Boy alongside Aya Cash (You’re the Worst, The Boys) reprising her role as Stormfront. The show will explore Vought’s origins in the 1950s and delve deeper into the early development of Compound V.
New additions to the cast include Mason Dye (Stranger Things, Teen Wolf) as Bombsight, along with Will Hochman (Blue Bloods, Critical Incident) and Elizabeth Posey (Heels, Euphoria). The series will continue to expand on the history of Vought and the rise of the franchise’s earliest supes.
mxdwn has previously covered how Bombsight could become a major figure in the future of The Boys universe. One earlier report focused on how the character appeared tied to Vought’s origins and early Compound V experimentation, suggesting that Bombsight may serve as a bridge between The Boys’ final season and the upcoming Vought Rising prequel.
That coverage highlighted how Amazon was already laying the groundwork for the franchise’s future through characters connected to Vought’s earliest history. The cancellation of Gen V marks a major shift for the franchise, especially as the series had become closely tied to the larger storyline surrounding Homelander and the growing conflict between supes and humans.
Still, the continued development of Vought Rising suggests Amazon plans to keep expanding the universe after The Boys comes to an end. As of now, Vought Rising is expected to debut sometime in 2027, though an exact release date has not yet been announced.
