Game of Thrones series creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss have decided to part ways with Management 360 in favor of a new deal, according to Deadline. Guymon Casady of Management 360 was their manager for 20 years, and both Benioff and Weiss have assured that this departure is not due to any hard feelings.
“Guymon has been a good friend and partner to us for many years, and we look forward to the next chapter in our relationship,” they said in a statement confirming the move. “His eye for great material is keener than it’s ever been, and we expect to be producing many shows and films with him in the future.”
Casady also helped produce the GoT series and helped connect Benioff and Weiss with George RR Martin’s literary series.
Despite this departure, Benioff & Weiss will continue to be repped by CAA as directors. Gretchen Rush, attorney for Benioff & Weiss, will handle all negotiations regarding the new global deal that the duo is attempting to make. According to Deadline, they have already held meetings with Netflix, Amazon, Apple, HBO/WarnerMedia, Disney, and Comcast. This overall global deal is supposed to cover all areas, from TV to film and streaming projects.
Additionally, Benioff & Weiss are also in the process of working on a new Star Wars trilogy. This will be film series separate from the originals by George Lucas and unconnected to the trilogy by Rian Johnson. According to Variety, the trilogy by Benioff and Weiss is set to premiere Dec. 16, 2022.
Benioff & Weiss have already had to put aside a project due to the intense labor necessary for the making of Game of Thrones, so now that the series is finally over, the two are freed up to work on other projects. The series, entitled Confederate, was set to bow on HBO, but received backlash due to its content. Still, Benioff and Weiss claimed that the decision to put off working on the series wasn’t due to the adverse reactions on social media, but to the Star Wars trilogy that the two have decided to focus on post-GoT.
