FX Orders ‘Mayans MC’ a Spinoff of ‘Sons of Anarchy’

It is official, FX is doing another biker drama called Mayans MC. This show is going to be a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy. FX ordered a ten episode season for Mayans MC. This will be Kurt Sutter’s (one of the creators of Sons of Anarchy) next chapter in the Sons of Anarchy saga.  Mayans MC will pick up four years after the seven season finale of Sons of Anarchy (which was FX’s highest-rated ongoing drama series). Mayans will follow the Mayans motorcycle club that was seen in Sons. The new show will air sometime in 2018 whether it is the summer or late fall it has not been announced as of yet.

Mayans did hit a few speed bumps along the way. The show originally picked up the pilot back in December 2016; however, they decided (in July) to scrap the pilot and do a recast of the show. Norbert Barba also became the new pilot director. Barba is the executive producer of the series as well as Sutter and Elgin James (co-wrote and co-created the drama with Sutter).

The synopsis for the show is that EZ Reyes (played by JD Pardo) is out of prison. EZ needs to create his new outlaw identity as he is now a prospect for Mayan MC charter on the California and Mexican border. He was once supposed to be the golden boy that was within grasp of the American dream.

The rest of the cast are: Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo and Carla Baratta.
