FX Developing ‘Alien’ TV Series from Noah Hawley with Ridley Scott in Talks to Executive Produce

During the 2020 Disney Investors Day Presentation, FX CEO John Landgraf made the announcement that the network will produce a series from Noah Hawley (Legion) set in the Alien film universe, according to Variety. Additionally, Landgraf also stated that “FX is in advanced negotiations with Academy Award winner, Sir Ridley Scott, director of the first Alien film and the sequel, Alien: Covenant, to join the project as an executive producer,” via Variety

On Dec. 1, Hawley had previously expressed interest in developing series based on the classic horror, sci-fi film franchise Alien. Hawley is best known for his involvement with other FX series such as acting as showrunner and creator for shows such as Legion and Fargo

The upcoming FX Alien series is allegedly to be the first story within the Alien universe to be featured on planet Earth according to Landgraf’s presentation. This development will mark the first television installment into the film franchise after six previous feature films since 1979. The first film, Alien, was directed by Scott (The Martian) and marked his ascension into mainstream Hollywood as a premiere sci-fi director. Alien is currently available to stream on HBO Max.

Currently, it is unknown when this television addition to the popular sci-fi genre will start production.
