Friday Night Lights Movie

Friday Night Lights is coming to the big screen.  According to Huffington Post, Connie Britton has received the movie script and is excited to start production.

Nashville star Britton told  Ladies’ Home Journal, “I have the script for a potential movie spin-off of FNL. I think it’s just a matter of finding a time when everyone can do it.”

Friday Night Lights, was based on the movie of the same name starring Billy Bob Thorton.  The show aired on NBC and DirecTV from 2006-2011. FNL ended two years ago after five seasons run.  Fans have been “clamoring for a continuation of the story of Coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), his wife Tami Taylor (Britton) and the rest of the Dillon Panthers crew”, according to Huffington Post.

Scott Porter, who played Jason Street in the series, admitted in June that the chances of the movie happening aren’t great. “I’d put 50/50 odds on it,” He told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m so scared we would never be able to top the show. And I wouldn’t want what we did together tarnished in any way.”

“I will say that we can dream the dream; there have been talks about making a movie of the series. The producers, Pete and his partners are very passionate about it. I don’t think there’s any plans for it to move forward right now. But you never say never,” said producer David Hudgins at the ATX Television Festival.
