Fox’s ‘The Real’ Canceled After Eight Seasons

After eight seasons, Fox’s The Real has been canceled, according to VarietySimilar to The ViewThe Real features a group of female hosts who discuss motherhood, fashion, relationships and beauty.

The series was hosted by Loni Love (Soul Plane), Jeannie Mai Jenkins (Holey Moley), Garcelle Beauvais (The Jamie Foxx Show), Tamar Braxton (Tamar & Vince) and Amanda Seales (Insecure). Having premiered in 2013, it was developed by creator SallyAnn Salsano (Jersey Shore) for a young adult audience.

The original series hosts included Tamera Mowry-Housley (Tia & Tamera), alongside Jeannie Mai (How Do I Look?), Love and Braxton. Seales joined the series in 2020 for its sixth season, but departed after five months – citing that the show did not give her the freedom to discuss the current event topics she aspired to. She was later replaced by Beauvais, a former cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The series was reportedly canceled after Fox declined to pick it up for another season, but was unrelated to the launch of the station’s The Jennifer Hudson Show.
