First Look Trailer Released For Showtime’s ‘The Loudest Voice’

Showtime has officially announced that their highly-anticipated seven-part limited series, The Loudest Voice, will premiere on Sunday June 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The series will star Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Russell Crowe as Fox News founder Roger Ailes. Currently, production is taking place in New York City.

Based on extensive research and interviews with more than six hundred people, Gabriel Sherman wrote the best-seller, The Loudest Voice in the Room, back in 2014 before it became a New York Time bestseller. The series’ official logline reads:

In today’s politically charged media landscape, no figure looms larger, even after his passing, than Roger Ailes, who molded Fox News into a force that irrevocably changed the conversation about the highest levels of government. To understand the events that led to the rise of the modern Republican party, one must understand Ailes.

The star-studded cast is rounded out by: Naomi Watts as former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson, Sienna Miller as Ailes’ wife Elizabeth, Seth MacFarlane as former Fox News PR chief Brian Lewis, Simon McBurney as News Corp leader Rupert Murdoch, Annabelle Wallis as former Fox News booker Laurie Luhn and Aleksa Palladino as Ailes’ longtime assistant Judy Laterza.

Guest stars Josh Charles as Casey Close, Gretchen Carlson’s husband and Josh Stamberg as former Fox executive, Bill Shine, make up the rest of the supporting cast. Emmy nominee Kari Skogland — known for Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale — will be directing several of the series’ episodes.

Although largely focusing on the past decade in which Ailes became a large influential force within the Republican Party, The Loudest Voice, will also follow other big events in Ailes’ life, ranging from the rise of his political career to the sexual harassment accusations and settlements that eventually ended his Fox News career.

The first episode is written by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight) and Sherman, with the project being helmed as a co-production between Showtime and Blumhouse Television, which is recently known for Sharp Objects and Get Out.
