First Look At ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’

Last year, a new series in the Star Wars franchise was announced during the Star Wars Celebration convention in California. This year, Disney+ has revealed the cast and premise of Skeleton Crew, as well as a first look at the trailer, at the convention in London.

Skeleton Crew will follow Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripely, Closer) as a Jedi and “a group of rebellious kids traveling the galaxy,” according to Deadline.

Law was featured at the event and commented on his role, via IGN: “I was six years old when this galaxy gripped me, blew my mind, and I feel like I’ve been in preparation ever since. It was a total pleasure, I think one of the highlights was working with the incredible, talented people working behind the scenes. It was a true dream come true.”

Among the child actors are Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Encanto, #BlackAF), Kyriana Kratter (Bunk’d, The Healing Garden), and Robert Timothy Smith (Mythic Quest, Good Girls).

From Variety, the show “is said to evoke classic Amblin films” and the teaser features “shots of the children on speeders, in school, on spaceships and tease of a familiar villain from The Mandalorian.”

The sci-fi thriller has also announced a slew of directors for its eight-episode season, including creator Jon Watts (Cop Car, Spider-Man: No Way Home), David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon, The Old Man & the Gun), The Daniels duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Swiss Army Man), Jake Schreier (Beef, Paper Towns), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Dominion, The Help), and Lee Isaac Chung (Minari, Abigail Harm).

While the official trailer is not available online, photos of the clip have circulated through Twitter since the event:

Skeleton Crew will air sometime in 2023, only on Disney+.

The Celebtration event also revealed details for several other Star Wars shows, such as the new Ahsoka trailer, season two of Andor, and new information for The Acolyte.
