First Look at Lady Diana and Margaret Thatcher in the Season 4 Trailer of Netflix’s ‘The Crown’

The wait is over. The trailer for season four of The Crown is finally here, and it’s filled with dark twists and turns. Coming to Netflix on November 15, the teaser focuses on the ever elusive Lady Diana and the start to her rocky relationship with the royal family via Entertainment Weekly

The bleak and dreary season four trailer features some familiar and some new faces. Olivia Coleman (The Favourite) will reprise her role as Queen Elizabeth ll, Tobias Menzies (Outlander) as Prince Phillip, Josh O’Connor (Emma) as Prince Charles and Helena Bohem Carter (Sweeney Todd) as Princess Margaret. New faces include Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and of course, Emma Corrin (Pennyworth) as Lady Diana Spencer.

The latest look at the upcoming season is filled with a sense of impending doom. There is suspense at every turn as the wedding day between Lady Diana and Prince Charles nears, putting everyone on edge. Diana is portrayed as a free spirit, lively and full of adventure as she goes out with friends and falls in love with Prince Charles. As the audience, we know the tragedy that awaits her, and the trailer seems all too aware of it as well.

Set in the late 1970s, the period piece drama focuses on the budding romance between Prince Charles and Diana, depicting the honeymoon era of their relationship before things became chaotic and complicated. The trailer even shows snapshots of Diana on her wedding day, perfectly imitating one of history’s most famous wedding dresses.

There is much anticipation surrounding the performance of Corrin as Lady Diana due to her portraying one of the biggest pop culture icons of our time. This will be Corrin’s only season as Diana though, with it being announced this past August that Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager) will be portraying her in seasons 5 and 6.
