Ellen DeGeneres’s ‘One Big Happy’ Picked Up By NBC

The lesbian multicamera comedy just got a pilot order from NBC, says The Hollywood Reporter.

As reported a few months ago, One Big Happy will revolve around “a lesbian who gets pregnant just as her straight male best friend meets and marries the love of his life” and the changes in their lives after that.

With this pilot order, NBC keeps insisting on gay-themed shows, since a lot of openly homossexual or LGBT characters that were present in the network’s shows were “wiped out” with last season’s cancellations (Smash, Mr. Robinson and Working The Engles all had gay characters).

Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls) will write the show and executive produce with both Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman, the banner A Very Good Production’s president.

Feldman and DeGeneres already worked together for about 100 episodes of The Ellen DeGeneres’ Show, between 2003 and 2007.
