During the 2020 Disney Investor Day presentation, president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, presented an exclusive first look at their first animated series, entitled, What If…?. The series is slated to debut in Summer 2021 on Disney+, according to Marvel Entertainment.
Based on the comic books of the same name, What If…? features a reimagination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by describing iconic events from the films occurring in different ways. Initially revealed last year, the show will take the form of an anthology series by investigating a new moment from the MCU with each coming episode. An example episode topic includes, “What if Peggy Carter was the one who became a super soldier?”
The series will feature several heroes from the Marvel Universe reprising their roles, now as voice actors. It was previously announced that Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) as Peggy Carter. Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) will star as the voice of The Watcher, as reported by Marvel Entertainment.
What If…? will be directed by Bryan Andrews (Clone Wars) with Ashley Bradley (Arrow) serving as head writer. The series is expected to debut in Summer of 2021. The newly released trailer can be watched below.
