Disney+’s ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Has Not Been Confirmed For Season Two

The upcoming installation for Marvel Studios’ long list of television series, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, is only a few weeks out from premiering. Set for a March 19 premiere date, the series has not been confirmed for a second season in an interview with star Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker), according to Comic Book. Created for television by Malcolm Spellman (Empire), the impending first season of the show will consist of six episodes and will conclude its weekly streaming release on April 23 for Disney+. 

Following an interview with Variety, it was revealed by reporter Matt Donnelly that Mackie was “bound by standard Marvel-grade secrecy” however “the actor confirms there have been no discussions of a second season,” via Comic Book. This news comes ahead of the premiere of the final episode of WandaVision’s first season which has also not confirmed a second, follow-up season.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier centers on the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the events of Avengers: Endgame  in which Captain America, or Steve Rogers, passes away and the mantle of the superhero remains. The series will star the duo of Sam Wilson, or Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, or the Winter Soldier, team up to combat the anarchist group, the Flag-Smashers. The series cast will include Mackie return as Falcon alongside Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl) reprising his role as the Winter Soldier. Additional cast features the returning Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds) as Helmut Zemo, Wyatt Russell (Overlord) as John F. Walker, and Emily VanCamp (Everwood, The Resident) as Sharon Carter, Peggy Carter’s niece. Furthermore, Don Cheadle (Black Monday) will return as War Machine for the Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ original.
