According to Comicbook, the new teaser trailer for the holiday special of Guardians of the Galaxy just got released. It has been an exciting week for Marvel fans that have had new trailers for the holiday special, the new Ant-Man movie, and more announcements regarding the new Black Panther movie that comes out in a couple of weeks.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is the second special for Marvel and Disney+. Earlier this month they released the Werewolf by Night special just in time for Halloween. The Guardians special will take on a Christmas theme, much like the Hawkeye series.
In the teaser, the audience can see the return of favorite characters from Guardians. The trailer gives fans a glimpse into what has been going on with the Guardians of the Galaxy since Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder. Some of the characters in the trailer are Star-Lord aka Peter Quill played by Chris Pratt (Jurassic World, The Tomorrow War); Drax played by Dave Bautista (Dune, See); Mantis played by Pom Klementieff (Westworld, Uncut Gems); Nebula played by Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle); Rocket played by Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born, American Sniper); fan-favorite Groot played by Vin Diesel (Fast and Furious saga, xXx saga); and, Kraglin played by Sean Gunn (The Suicide Squad, Agnes).
The special will follow the Guardians team as they travel to Earth in an attempt to cheer up Star-Lord who is still mourning and missing Gamora, played by Zoe Saldaña (Avatar, Star Trek), who was killed by Thanos, played by Josh Brolin (Dune, Deadpool 2), in Avengers: Endgame. According to Deadline, in their mission to cheer Peter up, Mantis and Drax decide to kidnap Kevin Bacon (Footloose, Space Oddity) and give him to Peter as a Christmas gift.
According to Comicbook, the holiday special is required for any Marvel fan who wants to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Director James Gunn (Suicide Squad, Peacemaker) has said that he set up some plot points in the special that will be used in the future of the franchise.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be available to watch on November 25 on Disney+. The new movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, will be released next May.
