Disney+ Releases New Trailer For ‘The Mandalorian’ Season Three During ‘Monday Night Football’

The Venn diagram for football fans and Star Wars fanatics converged as a complete circle for tonight’s Monday Night Football. Disney released the second official trailer for the highly-anticipated third season of Jon Favreau’s (Chef, Elf) The Mandalorian at the end of the All State Halftime Show. The series starring Pedro Pascal (Wonder Woman 84, The Last of Us) is set for March 1 launch on Disney+. The third season matches Pascal’s Din Djarin, a bounty-hunter-turned-rogue-father-figure, back with the child Grogu post his stint of Jedi training with a young Skywalker. This time around the single parent has set a course to return to Mandalore and repent for his sins. But many obstacles will stand in his way including dark forces gaining traction on the outskirts of the galaxy.

The trailer showcases some familiar faces including Carl Weathers’ (Predator, Happy Gilmore) Greef Karga and Amy Sedaris’ (Strangers With Candy, Bojack Horseman) Peli Motto. Fans of the series can also expect to see the return of Katee Sackhoff portraying her Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Bo-Katan Kryze; Emily Swallow’s (The Mentalist, Supernatural) The Armorer; and, recent Critics Choice Award-winner, Giancarlo Esposito (Kaleidoscope, Better Call Saul) as Moff Gideon. 

According to the Disney press release, Favreau continues as head writer and showrunner for the series. He also serves as one of many executive producers along with director Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, Confirmation), Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Rebels), Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Colin Wilson (Detroit, The Meg). Co-executive producers include Carrie Beck (The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka) and Karen Gilchrist (Alien Xmas, The Lion King).  

The eight-episode season will have direction from Weathers, Bryce Dallas Howard (Black Mirror, Jurassic World Dominion), Lee Isaac Chung (Minari, Lucky Life), Rachel Morrison (Mudbound, Flint Strong), Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space), and Famuyiwa.
