Disney Channel Orders Second Season of ‘Owl House’ Ahead of Its Season 1 Premiere

Last week, the creators of the animated children’s series Owl House received some good news from the Disney Channel. The network announced in a press release that the fantasy-comedy series was confirmed for a second season, even before the show’s upcoming premiere in January.

Owl House is the latest creation from artist and animator Dana Terrace, previously of the Disney Channel reboot of DuckTales. Terrace will serve as executive producer for the series and will oversee other key creatives, including art director Ricky Cometa of Steven Universe and supervising producers Stephen Sandoval of Gravity Falls

The new series follows the story of Luz, “a self-assured teenage girl who stumbles upon a portal to a magical realm where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and a tiny warrior, King.” Luz dreams of becoming a powerful witch, and is determined to make that dream come true despite not having any magical powers. Terrace recently posted some example art of the characters on her Twitter:

Owl House will star Sarah-Nicole Robles as Luz, joined by Wendie Malick as Eda and Alex Hirsch as King. The guest stars for season 1 include Matthew Rhys (The Americans), Isabella Rossellini (Shut Eye), Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Issac Ryan Brown (Raven’s Home), Mae Whitman (Parenthood), Bumper Robinson (The Game), Parvesh Cheena (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Eden Riegel (All My Children).

The new series Owl House premieres on the Disney Channel and the DisneyNOW app on Friday, January 10th, at 8:45pm EST. Disney has not announced whether the show will be available on Disney+ as well. A premiere date for season 2 has not been announced yet. You can watch the trailer for Owl House below.
