Disney+ and Hulu Release Beta Test Of Combined Streaming App

Disney+ recently added Hulu to their home screen for a beta launch of the integrated one-app experience, according to Deadline. According to previous mxdwn‘s post, the integration will be available to members who have bought the bundle subscription. With the launch of the beta, Disney+ subscribers have the option to upgrade to the “Hulu-enhanced” tier for an additional $2 per month. A full version of the app is set to be released in March 2024, bringing with it even more features and improvements.

This integration will provide a seamlessly unified experience, allowing users to browse and watch content from both platforms without ever having to switch apps. According to Deadline, Disney’s CEO Bog Iger stated in last month’s earnings call the the beta is primarily to prepare parents for the adjustment in programming on the family-centric Disney+ platform.

“We are basically putting it in beta so that we can prepare parents, largely, to basically implement parental controls, because you’ll be able to access Hulu programming on the same app,” Iger said via Deadline. As parental control will be the main factor, existing subscribers will be reminded to adjust their content settings, to safely cipher between the more mature-themed shows offered by FX and other Hulu properties, and the more children-based Disney programming.  As stated by Deadline in a mxdwn post, Disney was under peer pressure to improve their economics, which in most cases meant increasing prices and boosting advertising.

Whether you are a loyal Disney+ fan, or simply enjoy a wider range of entertainment options, then the joint app will be a game-changer for you. According to a previous mxdwn post, there will be new ad-free offers available for subscribers in the EMEA and Canada, where the price will start at £4.99/€5.99 and $7.99 per month respectively. With its vast library, diverse content, and user-friendly interface, the “one-app experience” is poised to become the ultimate streaming destination for millions of viewers worldwide. The evolution of streaming services is dramatically growing, which could open the door for future possibilities in the streaming world.
