NBC has announced Diane Lane will be playing Hillary Clinton in an upcoming miniseries according to Indiewire.
The miniseries, which does not currently have a script, will focus on the time in Clinton’s life when she served as first lady during the presidency of husband Bill Clinton, and “track her journey as she took on roles as senator, Democratic presidential nominee and secretary of state,” Indiewire reported.
This is not the first project based on Clinton to be announced this year, as plans for the movie “Rodham” were unveiled in January. The Huffington Post reported the script came from Hollywood’s Black List. Unlike NBC’s miniseries, this film will center around Clinton’s early career.
The untitled miniseries will be directed by Courtney Hunt, who has directed episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, In Treatment, and the movie “Frozen River”, noted Indiewire.
NBC has not made an announcement regarding the air date other than saying it will come before any formal announcement regarding Clinton running for office in 2016.
