Devery Jacobs Joins Marvel’s ‘Echo’ Series At Disney+

A new cast member has joined an upcoming Marvel series. Deadline reports Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs, The Order) will be a part of Echo, one of the many Marvel TV series coming to Disney’s streaming platform. Jacobs is best known for her portrayal in last year’s breakout hit, Reservation Dogs.

The series is set to star Alaqua Cox as the deaf, Native American hero named Maya Lopez, whose heightened senses allow her to mimic opponents’ fighting styles instantly. Cox premiered the comic character’s first live-action depiction in Disney+’s Hawkeye series alongside Jeremy Renner (Mayor of Kingstown, Tag) and Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee, Dickinson). As a spinoff of that series, Echo will explore Lopez’s journey as she seeks a new life after finding out the truth about her father’s murder at the hands of her former mentor, Kingpin.

According to Deadline, Cox alluded to Jacobs allegedly joining the cast in an Instagram story post last week. In the post, Cox tagged a photo of a flower arrangement Jacobs had gifted her a day prior to filming. As of now, the only detail on Jacobs’s character is she is listed as a lead character named Julie.

Jacobs is no stranger to the Disney fold as she stars in FX’s critically-acclaimed dramedy, Reservation Dogs. In her role as Elora Danan, she and three other teenagers, merely existing on an Oklahoma reservation, seek to escape to sunny California after tragedy strikes. Created by Sterlin Harjo (Mekko, Love and Fury) and Thor: Love and Thunder director, Taika Watiti (Our Flags Mean Death), the series received an Independent Spirit Award for Best Ensemble Cast in a New Scripted Series. And Jacobs was nominated for Outstanding Performance in a New Series at the 2021 Gotham Awards.

The series was renewed for a second season last year. Jacobs will return to the role as well as join the writer’s room for the sophomore season.

Echo is written and executive produced by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Holmes & Watson) and Emily Cohen (Fruits of Labor, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth), via Deadline. The series is on growing list of new Marvel shows coming to Disney+ within the next year along with Secret Invasion, She-Hulkand Ms. Marvel
