Apple TV’s upcoming CIA thriller Disavowed is expanding its cast, adding Daniel Zovatto (Woman of the Hour, Station Eleven), Mia Tharia (September Says, The Listeners) and Sonita Henry (Silo, Black Cake) to the series. According to Deadline, details about their characters are still under wraps.
The trio joins previously announced cast members James Marsden (Paradise, Jury Duty), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead, The Bikeriders), Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049, See), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo, Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Noma Dumezweni (The Little Mermaid, The Undoing). Disavowed stars Marsden as Brad Griffin, a legendary CIA case officer who is suddenly fired while pursuing an elusive assassin responsible for killing his colleague.
Cut off from the intelligence community, Griffin decides to continue the hunt on his own and pursue the $15 million federal bounty placed on the assassin. Marsden will also executive produce the series, which is based on an original idea from Art Marcum (Iron Man, Uncharted) and Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Men in Black: International).
Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad, The Morning Show) will direct the first two episodes and executive produce alongside Rebecca Hobbs. The series comes from Apple Studios, with Blue Marble Pictures producing.
Deadline also notes that Zovatto recently completed work on action drama The Last Druid and appeared in Basics of Philosophy, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. His recent credits also include Netflix’s Woman of the Hour and The Pope’s Exorcist.
Tharia made her acting debut in the BBC series Phoenix Rise in 2023. Since then, she has appeared in September Says and The Listeners. She is also set to appear in Taika Waititi’s upcoming Klara and the Sun.
Henry recently appeared in Apple TV’s Silo and Hulu’s Black Cake. Her upcoming film projects include DC Studios’ Clayface and the untitled Jimmy White biopic.
With its latest additions, Disavowed continues to build out the ensemble around Marsden’s Brad Griffin. Apple TV has not yet announced a premiere date for the CIA thriller.
