David Jenkins (People of Earth), creator of the series delivered the news on social media on Friday. The series has been trying to find a new home ever since it was canceled by Max after just two seasons.

Below is the full statement that Jenkins gave on Instagram.

Our Flag Means Death is based on the adventures of would-be pirate Stede Bonnet during the 18th century. After giving up living the high life, Bonnet decides to become a captain of a pirate ship named Revenge. While trying to gain the respect of his crew, Bonnet and the rest of the ship try to survive life on the seas.

The cast for the series includes Rhys Darby (Yes Man) as Stede Bonnet, Joel Fry (Game of Thrones) as Frenchie, Samson Kayo (The Bubble) as Oluwande, Matthew Maher (Captain Marvel) as Black Pete, Nathan Foad (Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared) as Lucius, Samba Schutte (Sunnyside) as Roach, Con O’Neill (The Batman) as Izzy Hands, Vico Ortiz (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay) as Jim, and many others.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series was praised for its queer storylines and had a 94 percent score among critics and 93 percent rating with viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. Since the series’ cancellation, fans have tried to launch campaigns to save the show as well as create fundraisers for billboards in New York and London.

All seasons of Our Flag Means Death are still available to stream on Max.
