FX Releases Official Trailer For Ryan Murphy’s ‘The Shards’

FX has released an official trailer for its upcoming drama, The Shards. The series, which is based off Bret Easton Ellis’s (American Psycho, The Canyons) bestselling novel under the same name, is executively produced by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, The Beauty) and Ellis alike.

Per the official logline, the series is “set against the vivid backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, the series follows a group of privileged high school seniors at an elite prep school as they navigate identity, sex, jealousy, obsession and the dangers lurking beneath the surface of American adolescence.”

The Shards‘ cast includes Igby Rigney (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher), Homer Gere (Euphoria), Kaia Gerber (Bottoms, Babylon), Hayes Werner, Graham Campbell (Late Fame), Wes Bentley (American Beauty, Interstellar), Evan Rachel Wood (Thirteen, Westworld), and Jordan Roth (I Think I Do, The Birds and the BS).

Rigney is set to play Bret, an aspiring writer whose world is rattled once a new student arrives, Robert Mallory, who is played by Gere. Among Bret’s elite social circle, you’ll find Debbie Schaffer, played by Werner, Susan Reynolds, played by Gerber, and Thom Wright, played by Campbell, a fascinating group of personalities who live off the effects of partying and wealth.

The series will be produced by 20th Television. Alongside Murphy and Ellis, it will be executively produced by Ellis, Nina Jacobson (The Hunger Games, Crazy Rich Asians), Brad Simpson (World War Z, Crazy Rich Asians), Eric Kovtun (Monster, American Crime Story), Scott Robertson (Love Story, The Renevant), Nissa Diederech (Love Story, The Beauty), Tanase Popa (The Prom, Pose), Nick Hall (The White Lotus, The Romanoffs), Michael Uppendahl (The Walking Dead, Mad Men), Max Winkler (Flower, Jungleland) Kathleen McCafferty and Brian Young (The Brutalist, Vox Lux).

The Shards will premiere August 5th on FX , Hulu and Disney + internationally.
