Craig Mazin Clears Up That Bill And Frank Will Not Be Returning To ‘The Last Of Us’

According to Deadline, executive producer of The Last of Us series, Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) spoke about the possibility of Bill and Frank appearing in the next season. Many fans have been wondering whether or not the characters of Bill and Frank will be returning to the series since their episode ,which left many impressed, premiered. This episode recently won the series an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series with Nick Offerman’s (A Parks and Recreation) performance as Bill. 

Offerman and Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) who plays the role of Frank in the series, and was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series on behalf of the entire episode in the series following their characters’ story. Episode three of The Last of Us follows the story of Bill who has secured an entire town for himself with no one else around since the start of the outbreak. Eventually, he encounters Frank who falls for one of Bill’s traps set around the perimeter of the town and after some time both can’t live without the other. 

According to Deadline, after winning Offerman joked around with the idea of the series expanding Bill & Frank. He said, “It certainly has been pitched. I think we pitched a whole mini-series of a prequel of their lives before they met each other. It could be a musical. We’re not short on ideas. We’ll just we’ll see what Craig and Neil come up with.”

According to Deadline, during the celebration at HBO’s post-Emmy party, Mazin cleared up the possibility of both characters coming back to the series or even having a spinoff. Mazin said, “I’m very proud of the episode we did with Bill and Frank. There won’t be more Bill and Frank.”

He continued to say, “Nick was joking about a prequel, that was kind of a joke. We are very happy with what we achieved.”
