Constantine Joins ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ as Series Regular

The famous antihero John Constantine has made a few appearances on season 3 of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. His slot will become permanent for season 4.

Matt Ryan first portrayed the demon hunter on NBC’s short-lived series Constantine. It was canceled by the network even after an outpouring of support and calls for a second season. Fans were thrilled when he made an appearance first on Arrow and then as part of Legends.

The CW hasn’t formally announced the season 4 renewal, but due to ratings and high demand it is  expected to be on the slate along with the other DC-world shows. The current season of Legends has been fraught with a mish-mash of characters making it a perfect fit for the oft outcast character.

Fans of the Constantine show are hopeful his role in Legends will be allowed to come full circle. In his appearances thus far, his failure to save the possessed girl Astra has been referenced (this was covered in the NBC show) leaving the door open to wrap up the show’s cliffhanger. In that, John was hit with the realization that his supposed Angel compatriot Manny was actually heading the uprising of demons. Legends certainly has the bandwith to incorporate this into the next season given their recent challenges of mystical threats.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursday nights on The CW.
