Christina Applegate Reveals She Has Been Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis

Married… with Children and Dead to Me star Christina Applegate revealed via Twitter this morning that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The actress revealed that she was diagnosed a few months ago, and it has been a “strange journey.”

Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system begins to attack the sheath that protects nerve fibers, making it difficult for the brain to communicate with the rest of the body. MS often makes it hard to walk and move and can lead to paralysis in the legs for some.

“So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing,” she requested in the following tweet. Applegate was previously diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and underwent bilateral mastectomy.

Applegate is most recently known for starring in Netflix’s Dead to Me alongside Linda Cardellini (Muppets Now). She is also known for her roles in Bad Moms, Friends, Samantha Who?, and Married… with Children.
