Charlie Sheen Comes Back into the Spotlight with New Chuck Lorre Collaboration

According to Deadline, Charlie Sheen (Platoon, Major League, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) is returning to the spotlight with Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, The Kominski Method, Mom) in new series How To Be a Bookie were Sheen is scheduled to have a recurring role. The show is already getting a lot of attention for the once disgraced actor and seems to be part of his comeback to television after his termination from Two and a Half Men.

Charlie’s career has been mostly incognito after his controversy in 2011 where he had a public meltdown against Lorre alongside allegations of drugs and alcohol abuse and domestic violence. Sheen was removed from the popular sitcom of eight years, Two and a Half Men, with his character Charlie Harper getting hit by a train. In the show, his role was eventually replaced with a new character, Walden, played by Ashton Kutcher (That 70’s Show, Shark Tank, Cheaper by the Dozen).

After his firing, Sheen filed a lawsuit against Lorre and Warner Bros Television for unjust terminations which was eventually settled later on. Now, Sheen is taking full responsibility for actions and apologizes for his inappropriate behavior and substance abuse, attempting to make amends with his old friend and showrunner. Lorre accepted and is currently working with Sheen on the aforementioned project How To Be a Bookie.

How To Be a Bookie, written by Lorre and Nick Bakay (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Zookeeper, Paul Blart Mall Cop),follows a season bookie portrayed by Sebastian Maniscalo (The House, Tag, The Super Mario Bros Movie) as his revenue is getting increasingly harder to come by due to the legalization of sports gambling along with other distractions from his business like sketchy clientele, questioning family members, and constantly traveling up, around, and across Los Angeles.

Other performers scheduled to appear throughout the series are Omar J. Dorsey (Queen Sugar, Soul City, Dog Eat Dog), Jorge Garcia (Hawaii Five-O, The Munsters, Lost), Andrea Anders (Young Sheldon, Better Off Ted, That 90’s Show),Vanessa Ferlito (NCIS: New Orleans, Undefeated, Graceland), and Maxim Swinton (Fleishman is in Trouble, Adopted, Halston). Guest directors include: Judi Marmel (Bert Kriescher: The Machine, Achmed Saves America, Sebastian Maniscalo: Stay Hungry) and Andy Tennant (Fool’s Gold, Sweet Home Alabama, Hitch) booked for multiple episodes.

After a long time of reflection and self-improvement, Sheen might be ready to revive his once lucrative television career with the anticipated hit How To Be a Bookie premiering exclusively on Max formally known as HBO Max.
