Cee Lo Green Faces Drug Charge

The New York Times reports that the musician and host of NBC’s The Voice has been charged with furnishing a controlled substance.

The charges stem from an accusation that the singer and talent judge gave ecstasy to a woman he was dining with in July 2012. The two later went to her hotel room; however, prosecutors declined to charge him with sexual assault of an intoxicated person, citing insufficient evidence.

Entertainment Weekly learns that Green has pleaded not guilty during arraignment and posted the $30,000 bond. Green is scheduled to appear back in court on Nov. 20th for trial. If convicted Green faces four years in state prison.

In a statement from Green’s lawyer,  Blair Berk said, “Mr. Green encouraged a full and complete investigation of those claims and he was confident once conducted he would be cleared of having any wrongful intent.”

NBC has declined to comment on the charge against The Voice judge.
