CBS’s ‘Hawaii Five-0’ to End After Ten Seasons

Hawaii Five-0 will end after its current season, Variety reports. Over the course of its ten-season run, the police procedural has been one of CBS’s most popular series.

The series, which follows a team of Hawaii detectives, is a reboot of the 1968 series of the same name. After the series finale, the rebooted series will have aired 240 episodes. The original series, which ran for twelve seasons, aired 279.

The show’s current cast includes Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim. Its executive producers are Eric Guggenheim, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Peter Lenkov, who also serves as showrunner. After Hawaii Five-0 ends, Lenkov will stay with CBS as an executive producer of the network’s Magnum P.I. and MacGyver reboots.

O’Loughlin suffered a back injury during the early seasons of the series, according to Deadline, and is still dealing with its effects. This may have played a role in CBS’s decision to end the series.

In a statement, CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl expressed his feelings about ending the long-running police drama. “It’s never easy to say goodbye to a hit franchise that carried on the legacy of the original with such distinction while establishing its own signature style,” said Kahl. “From episode one, Hawaii Five-0 has been a huge success for us. Thanks to the amazing talents of the producers, writers, cast and crew, it has played a key role for a decade on our schedule and helped establish our powerhouse Friday night. We cannot be prouder of its quality and longevity and are thankful for the passionate fan devotion it inspired.”

Hawaii Five-0‘s two-hour finale will air Friday, April 3 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Among CBS’s renewed shows for next season are the comedies Young Sheldon and Man with a Plan, as well as the reality shows Love Island and Big Brother.
