The medical team at Angels Memorial Hospital are coming back for another season.
Variety reports that CBS has give the go-ahead for third season of medical drama Code Black, joining a slew of other shows set to return. There is no word yet on the episode count for season 3. Season 1 was 18 episodes, and season 2 was 13 before eventually being bumped up to 16.
Season 2 of the series saw fine ratings, averaging 6 million viewers per episode and a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49. The finale of season 2 in particular showed signs of life, scoring a season high Live+same day draw of 6.8 million viewers.
Code Black, created by Michael Seitzman, centers around the overworked medical team at the understaffed Angels Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles. The title of the series refers to a term used in hospitals when the patients outnumber the doctors and resources available. It stars Marcia Gay Harden, Boris Kodjoe, Melanie Chandra, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Jillian Murray, William Allen Young, Angela Relucio, Luis Guzmán, and Rob Lowe.
The series is executive produced by Seitzman, David Marshall Grant, Ryan McGarry, David Von Ancken, Marti Noxon, and Linda Goldstein Knowlton.
