A series called Riding The Lightning is in the works at CBS. The show is based on the memoir Riding the Lightning: A Year in the Life of a New York City Paramedic by Anthony Almojera, who is currently the vice president of the New York City Fire Department’s EMS officers’ union, Local 3621, via Instagram.
According to Deadline, “Riding the Lightning will follow a veteran team of EMS workers in New York City grappling with life-or-death emergencies while welcoming an eager group of new recruits to their tight-knit unit.”
Eric I. Lu, who was a writer for The Resident from 2018 to 2022 which totaled sixty episodes, will serve as the executive producer and writer of the show. Kaitlin Saltzman (Herpes Boy, Suppressant) and Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show, NCIS) are also set to produce through Valderrama’s production company VW Entertainment. Almojera will contribute to the project as a consultant.
Valderrama is still preoccupied with his role as Special Agent Nick Torres on NCIS, which is set to team up with spinoff shows NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawai’i in a crossover in January. He will also be reprising his role as Fez from That ’70s Show in its upcoming Netflix spinoff That ’90s Show next month.

He reported news of CBS’ acquisition of the television rights on November 25th.
