CBS Announces Cast for New ‘NCIS’ Show ‘NCIS: Sydney’

NCIS has gone international. According to Deadline, CBS recently announced the cast for their newest NCIS spinoff NCIS: Sydney. This is the first time one of the NCIS spinoffs is set outside of the United States. The new show comes after the end of the first-ever NCIS spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles

According to Deadline, the cast of the new show will include Olivia Swann (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Doctors) as Special Agent Michelle Mackey; Todd Lasance (Home and Away, Spartacus) as Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey; Sean Sagar (Our Girl, Fate: The Winx Saga) as Special Agent DeShawn Jackson; Tuuli Narkle (Mystery Road: Origin, Bad Behaviour) as Constable Evie Cooper, the AFP Liaison Officer; Mavournee Hazel (Neighbours, Halifax: Retribution) as Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson, the AFP Forensic Scientist; and William McInnes (Blue Heelers, The Time of Our Lives) as Dr. Roy Penrose, the AFP Forensic Pathologist.

NCIS: Sydney is produced by Endemol Shine Australia and is currently filming in Sydney. The show will launch on Paramount+ and the Australian broadcaster. NCIS: Sydney will follow the diverse team of American NCIS Agents and the Australian Federal Police (AFP), who are called to join a multi-national task force to keep naval crimes to a minimum in the most contested patch of the ocean on the planet.

The original NCIS focuses on group of special agents that work together to solve crimes against US military members. Over the years the team has gone through some changes seeing fan-favorite characters like Abby Sciuto, played by Pauley Perrette (Broke, Fantasy Hospital); Ziva David, played by Cote de Pablo (The Jury, Seneca); Ellie Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham (The Bridge, Glitch); and Anthony Dinozzo played by Michael Weatherly (Bull, Dark Angel), leave the team. Recently, the team’s main character and leader of the team Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon (Freaky Friday, Chasing Liberty), left the show after nineteen seasons as the leader. Of the original cast Timothy Mcgee, played by Sean Murray (Hocus Pocus, Jonesy), and Dr. Mallard “Ducky,” played by David McCallum (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, The Great Escape), remain on the show. The newer cast members include Wilmer Valderrama (Encanto, Gentefied), who plays Nick Torres; Diona Reasonover (Film Fest, Future Man) as Kasie Hines; Katrina Law (Arrow, Spartacus) as Jessica Knight; and Gary Cole (The Good Fight, Family Guy), who stars as Alden Parker.

The new show joins the other NCIS spinoffs including NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, and NCIS: Hawai’i. The original NCIS show has been on the air for almost twenty years, and it was recently renewed for new season which makes it the third-longest-running U.S. primetime drama series behind Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU

NCIS: Sydney is still filming and no release date has been announced. All episodes of NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: Hawai’i, and NCIS: New Orleans are available to stream on Paramount+.
