Candace Bushnell, Author Of ‘Sex And The City’, Set To Receive No Royalties From Netflix

According to Deadline, the creator of the Sex and the City franchise and author of the novels, Candace Bushnell (The Carrie Diaries), has recently revealed to audiences that she will receive no royalties from the recent deal for Netflix to air Sex and the City on the platform. HBO originally paid Bushnell $100,000 in order to air the novel as a television show. The franchise itself is now worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Deadline stated that Bushnell told The Times of London, All of these men who are in charge of things, they just keep moving these cards around to make money because every time they move the cards around somebody’s skimming. The way men do business is a Ponzi scheme. The percentage of women in the 1 percent who made their own money is about 3.5 percent, and that’s shocking.”

Along with the news of the series being aired by Netflix, the sequel to the series And Just Like That… is moving on to its third season. IMDB says that “The series follows Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

However, Deadline revealed that the reason that Samantha, played by Kim Cattral (Porky’s), did not return is due to a feud she had with Sarah Jessica Parker (Hocus Pocus), who plays Carrie.

Bushnell is also forging ahead with life as she is now showing off a stage show titled True Tales of Success and Sex and the City, which was most recently shown in Palm Beach, said Deadline. It’s an anecdotal memoir that revealed information such as her past friendship with Donald Trump, who she no longer speaks with. He reportedly complimented her, with led to her claiming that “He can be very charming if he wants to be. Obviously, that’s how he’s got where he is.”
