‘Book Of Eli’ Prequel Series To Star John Boyega

According to Deadline, John Boyega has been announced as the star and executive producer for The Book of Eli, which is a television series designed as a prequel to the movie of the same name which was released in the year 2010. While Denzel Washington originally played the lead in the film, John Boyega will be taking over the part of younger Eli.

Deadline cited that “The neo-Western Book of Eli movie takes place 30 years after a nuclear catastrophe caused an ecocide. It revolves around Eli (Washington), a nomad who fights his way across a ravaged, post-apocalyptic America while protecting a sacred book that holds the secrets to humanity’s salvation.”

While the show has been confirmed, it is hard to find concrete details, Deadline claimed. However, there has been limited information released surrounding the show. Some of this information included that the show takes place thirty years prior to the plot of the movie, which would be around the time of the nuclear event as well as the aftermath of it.

Deadline also announced that this project is one of the biggest and most high profile projects to be announced since the writers strike and actors strike which occurred last year. While there have been a handful of deals for various projects, buying them has been slow. For this reason, any Newly announced show needs to stand out. The Book of Eli is set to premiere in early 2024.

Gary Whitta, the writer for the original movie, serves as creator, writer, and executive producer for the series. It is also said to be executive produced by the Hughes brothers. The studio for the project is Alcon Entertainment, which produces the original film. Deadline also revealed that the studio is also about to be taken out to select premium
