‘Bones’ Final Season to Premiere in January on Fox in New Time Slot

The final season of Hart Hanson’s Bones finally has a solid premiere date.

After the premiere of the Fox dramedy’s 12th and final season was delayed to 2017 few months ago, all that was known was that it would air sometime in the early half of the year. According to Deadline, that air date has now been confirmed to be January 3rd 2017.

It is also important to note that Bones will be changing time slots for its final season. This sixth change in time slots for the Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz series will have the show airing at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays. It airs after Fox comedies New Girl and The MickBones is replacing reality series Kicking & Screaming, which is now scheduled for a midseason run.

There is plenty for fans to anticipate with the upcoming 12th season. The final season for Booth and Brennan will see them track down a serial killer that has a morbid obsession with mother figures, get involved in a lumberjack competition, and encounter guest stars and beloved characters from their past.

In an interview with TVinsider Hanson spoke about the series finale and what fans may expect.

“That’s the conversations we’re going to have: if a series finale is ‘old home week’ and everybody’s there, it takes away from the story, and thus heart. It becomes spectacle instead of heart,” said Hanson. “I want to talk to [the writers] about, is everybody going to get a goodbye on the way out, or is everybody going to say goodbye in the last episode? I say let’s give people more time and figure out a story at the end.”

Bones is executive produced by Hanson, Barry Josephson, Stephen Nathan, Randy Zisk, Jonathan Collier, and Michael Peterson. Far Field Productions and Josephson Entertainment produce the series in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
