Bojana Novakovic Cast in New CBS Drama ‘Instinct’

Instinct (previously titled as Killer Instinct) is a crime drama ordered to pilot by CBS, written by Michael Rauch, and based by an upcoming book by James Patterson which has yet to be released according to Variety. Patterson will also serve as an executive producer, at least for the pilot episode, and Marc Webb will direct, according to Deadline Hollywood. Deadline Hollywood also reports three other pilots by CBS: Me, Myself and I9J, 9K and 9L, and another drama called Mission Control.

The protagonist of Instinct, Dylan, is pulled out of retirement by top NYPD detective Lizzie who Variety reports has been cast for the rule, on the hunt for a serial killer. And of course, a love interest between the two leads would not be out of the question.

Novakovic is an increasingly popular Serbian-Australian actress most known previously for her roles in films. Her most notable roles have been Maeve in The Little Death (2014), and she also appeared in Devil (2010). She has also won the Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Television Drama or Comedy Award from the Australian Film Institute in 2003. She will be appearing in several more films in the future, including a role in Beyond Skyline.

This is Bojana Novakovic’s largest role to date. Other television appearances have been limited to a recurring role on Fox’s short series Rake, Showtime’s Shameless, and a single episode of Westworld from HBO.

Novakovic is joining Alan Cumming (Dylan), whose recent roles include Eli Gold of The Good WifeThe Good Wife concluded in 2016, but inspired spin-off The Good Fight, which picks up a year after the final events of The Good Wife and premieres tomorrow, February 19th at 8/7c on CBS All Access. Cumming will also be an executive producer of Instinct.

Eli Gold is a blunt, even rude, chief of staff in ‘The Good Wife.’

Cumming plays a retired CIA operative named Dylan who fails to escape a life of law enforcement to remain in his comfortable new roles of writer and professor.

No projected air date has been decided yet for Instinct, but it will likely be competing with several other crime and legal dramas. Besides those on streaming services like Netflix, Entertainment Weekly reveals that ABC may move forward with a new Shonda Rhimes legal drama. Given the level of success of shows produced by Rhimes and Shondaland, there is a strong chance that this new project will be running on ABC in the future.
