‘Bob’s Burgers’ Co-executive Producers Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux Sign Deal with 20th Century Fox TV

Ever since Disney acquired the rights to 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets, multiple deals had been announced for new and current projects with big names attached to it. Today wasn’t any different. Bob’s Burgers producers, writers, and sisters, Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux, have signed a three-year deal with 20th Century Fox TV to develop new projects for the studio.

“Wendy and Lizzie are hilarious writers who have had a long history with this studio and we are so glad this will now formally become their exclusive home,” Jonnie Davis, president creative affairs at 20th TV, said Tuesday in statement. “They’ve been incredible contributors to our gem, Bob’s Burgers, [creator] Loren [Bouchard] loves them and our head of animation Marci Proietto has been their champion, for good reason. It’s no accident that their new animated series in the works for Fox attracted an all-star voice cast; it’s just that special, as are they.”

Back in March, Bob’s Burgers writer Nora Smith had signed a multiyear deal with 20th TV where she would serve as co-showrunner alongside creator and current showrunner of the hit animated series, Loren Bouchard. She will sit in as an executive producer as well.

The Molyneux sisters have another animated show in the works over at the studio called The Great North. The success of Bob’s Burgers has allowed a star-studded cast to join the upcoming show that includes Jenny Slate, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Aparna Nancherla, and Will Forte.

The deal will still allow the duo to continue with their work on Bob’s Burgers.

Said Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux, “We’re really grateful and excited to remain here at our creative home and to keep working with Jonnie, Dana [Walden], Peter [Rice] and Howard [Kurtzman]. They’ve always been incredibly supportive even though we’ve been perfectly open about the fact that every single one of our scripts is actually written by our mom, Sue.”

Disney made the announcement on Tuesday that they had an official release date set for the Bob’s Burgers film. The show will make its big screen debut on July 17, 2020. The announcement was made in 2017 for a movie, but Fox had given no further update. Now with the help of Disney, Fox’s animation is ready to move along.
